This sounds great. I don't know if I'll be able to get a copy of the Roth in time. The book group I'm currently in tries to pick books that are available in paperback so it's not too expensive. I try to get my books from the library but there are 554 holds on it right now!

I would love to join. Reading is my passion and knitting is my most wonderful excuse to watch television. When I was younger I managed to read a lot of Trollope's novels while knitting a lacy christening gown on size 1 needles (USA). I can't multi-task that way now, but I'd get a lot of vicarious pleasure out of hearing what members are doing.

Thank you,

I recently joined Knit the Classics and was looking for other knittin/reading groups. Found one that ended up being a knitting group in Reading, PA...oh well. I like the fact that you are reading Don Quixote for the summer as I have read it half way through and need a good inspiration to pick it up again :)Let me know if there is room for another. Enjoy the long weekend!

Hi! I'm new to blogging and fairly new to knitting, but an avid reader since I learned the alphabet. The biggest challenge I see in the immediate future is how I'm going to knit while reading "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" this Saturday! I would *love* to join your group.

I'd like to join. I've recently realized that I've forgotten how to read. Well I haven't really forgotten how to read, it's just that my attention span and comprehension are horrible because I haven't been practicing/reading.

When I think of New Orleans I think of it's rich history. I don't care to spend time on Bourbon Street. I go to antique stores, auctions, old time restaurants, and historic houses. I couldn't get enough of Old- New Orleans. So when I saw your post about honoring New Orleans by reading a book relative to the Big Easy- I remembered the
Beauregard-Keyes House built in 1826 on Chartres Street in the French Quarter. A house with a fascinating past. Francis Parkinson Keyes, the well-known novelist assisted in the renovation of the historic house and garden and then made it her home. Keyes wrote 25 novels while in residence there. I recommend DINNER AT ANTOINES. Antoine’s is a real establishment in New Orleans since 1840. A classic dining room with old fashioned gentlemen waiters. The story is said to be Agatha Christy like. One review stated that the physical descriptions of New Orleans are so accurate it could be a categorized as a travel essay. Sadly enough we may not be able visit these places again. Possibly only through the novels by Keyes will we experience New Orleans, as we once knew it. The museum contained Keyes' personal collection of antique dolls, teapots, fans and folk costumes, as well as her writing studio.

She believes if you don't read, you miss out a lot.
I want to join the club.
